Access to Higher education ma każdy, kto zdał A-level egzams, czyli ma GCSE lyb GCSES.
Dostęp do szkolnictwa wyższego ma każdy jednakowo.Nie ma tu ograniczeń typu: Azjaci-nie, czarni-nie, itd.

Access to Higher Education enables adults without qualifications such as A levels to progress to higher education.

Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health Studies
Duration
The course has two entry points, and students may commence their studies in either September or January.

Most students take 4 modules and are in class three days a week. The core modules (English and maths) are delivered on one day from 9.00am-4.00pm. The option modules are delivered from 10.00am-3.30pm.

Introduction
This is a programme for people who wish to take health related courses at university, but do not have the required entry qualifications. It has been designed for students who have been away from studying for some time.

Access courses are designed as an alternative to A levels. At the end of the course students go on to university to study a range of health related degrees or diplomas, such as Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy etc.

Content
All students on the Access to Health Studies course will take the following modules:

Health Studies
Biology
English / Study Skills
Maths
Students who have a recent GCSE in maths at grade C or above MAY be exempt from maths.

Help with study skills, computing and maths will be available and all students have weekly tutorials with their personal tutor.

Functional Skills
There are a variety of teaching methods including individual practical work, small group exercises, on-line research and presentation, whole-class teaching and peer assessment. In addition to scheduled lessons, seminar-based workshops take place on a weekly basis, where you can develop and extend your understanding and receive extra support.

Assessment
The Access course is based upon continuous assessment. You will be supported and encouraged to develop and practise the skills that will enable you to become an independent learner and prepare you for Higher Education.

Units

Each subject or module on the Access programme is organised into units. Each unit is worth three or more credits.

Credits

You will be assessed throughout the course in a variety of ways, for example, written essays, a piece of research, data response questions, practical work and skills, exams and many other formats.

When your work has been assessed, you will receive credits at a specified level. These credits accumulate and count towards your Final Credit Record at the end of the Access programme.

As part of the National Open College Network, our scheme is based on a system of credits awarded at different levels, that is, level 2 or level 3.

Level 2 is roughly equivalent to work produced at GCSE grade C or above

Level 3 is roughly equivalent to work produced at ‘A’ level standard and will be graded (Pass/Merit/Distinction)

Qualification Gained
In order to pass the Access Programme you must meet the following criteria:

You must achieve 60 new credits
Of these credits, at least 45 must be at level 3
You must achieve a minimum of 12 new credits at level 2 English. This is equivalent to GCSE grade C in English
You must achieve a minimum of 3 new credits at level 2 in maths
We also require all students to attend the IT core module and achieve a pass in at least one unit
Satisfy the rules of combination required for the Health Diploma
Please note the following:

To obtain GCSE equivalent in maths, you must obtain 12 new credits at level 2
Admission tutors for some degree courses will stipulate the number of credits to be achieved at a certain grade e.g. 21 credits at Merit level.
Opportunities for Progression
Students who successfully complete this programme will be able to apply to universities offering diplomas and degree courses in Health Studies, or more specific areas such as Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
